Climate change is an important issue and affects the lives of each and every one of us around the globe. The effects of climate change are accelerating as climate related disasters become increasingly prevalent on Earth. Despite national lockdowns and fewer people travelling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, global greenhouse gas emissions increased in 2020. With the rise of greenhouse gases comes an increase in the global mean surface temperature. Global mean surface temperature or GMST is measured using a combination of air temperature two meters over land, and sea surface temperature in ocean areas from various databases. One of the biggest things that can be done to help stop the climate crisis that is plaguing our world is to raise awareness over this issue. All of us in SAYVA should use our voices to raise awareness about climate change.

April 22nd is Earth Day. This year, we all need to do our part and become more conscientious about how our daily actions are affecting the climate, and we need to help others to do the same so that we can all come together to tackle this problem. Here are three things we can do right now:

1.    Speak up and use our voices.  We can have conversations with family and friends, and we can use our social media platforms to raise awareness about the climate crisis;

2.    Unplug computers, TVs and other electronics when you’re not using them.

3.    Eat more meat-free meals.

With the climate crisis,water scarcity, and COVID-19, we are all fighting a battle on more than one front, and unless we make sure to work hard and deal with this problem now it's only going to get worse.
